Position Summary:

Employee provides mental health services and mental health consultation services to young children (infants, toddlers, and preschoolers), families, and early childhood educators on-site at multiple Head Start programs in North County. This position is for a PFCS employee who is contracted for service with a fellow community organization, MAAC.

Responsibilities:

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

Essential Functions:

  • Assist MAAC staff to address prevalent child mental health concerns and develop the capacity of the teaching staff and other MAAC staff to identify and address challenging behavior
  • Development of Behavioral Intervention Plans
  • Assist in implementation of strategies to identify and support children with mental health and social and emotional concerns
  • Provide strategies that include using classroom observations and consultations to address teacher and individual child needs and create physical and cultural environments that promote positive mental health and emotional functioning
  • Provide mental health support to family members as needed
  • Review the results of developmental/behavioral screeners that have been identified as atypical and assist the staff and families in developing a plan to address the concerns
  • Provide staff and parent workshops/trainings considering each site’s needs per center directors’ request (e.g., social-emotional development in children, trauma and resilience, toxic stress, behavioral management techniques, children’s mental health issues, etc.)
  • Participate in Mental Health Team Meetings with MAAC staff
  • Completes required charting
  • Gathers and reports data and all required information for program documentation and evaluation

Qualifications:

Bilingual (Spanish fluency) required. Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field. Current registration with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as an Associate. A minimum of one year of related experience in direct child, youth, and family mental health services with relevant experience with young children. Must possess a valid driver’s license and adequate auto insurance. DOJ/FBI fingerprint clearance and a negative TB result are required.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $27.00 – $30.00 per hour
