Palomar Family Counseling Service (PFCS) is one of most recognized and respected providers of mental health services in North San Diego County. Established in 1956, PFCS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive services that professional, personal, and affordable. In addition to office-based clinical services such as individual, couples, or family therapy, PFCS offers services in schools, child development centers, and homes. PFCS also offers psychoeducation groups to treat domestic violence and anger management, as well as school-based prevention and early intervention services. Our main office is in Escondido and we have satellite offices in Vista and Fallbrook.
PFCS has an annual budget of over $6 million and a dedicated team of 80+ licensed and pre-licensed therapists, case managers, and administrative professionals. Each year we typically serve over 6,000 individuals. Our enduring mission is to support and strengthen children, youth, adults, families, school and communities. LEADERSHIP & CULTURE
Palomar Family Counseling Service is led by a dynamic leadership team dedicated to fostering a culture of autonomy, inclusivity, and growth. Lisa Turner, LCSW, has been with the organization over 20 years and has been the Executive Director since 2015. Our 15-member Board of Directors is comprised of North County residents with expertise in the fields of business, law, mental health, health care, and education.

POSITION SUMMARY
Through Prevention and Early Intervention funding from the County of San Diego, the Prevention Intervention Specialist joins an energetic and talented team of profesionals and paraprofessionals working collaboratively to implement the evidence-based Incredible Years® model as a prevention and early intervention strategy for children preschool to third grade. Dinosaur School, featuring life-size puppets, is used to engage children, assist in preventing and treating behavior problems, and strengthen social, emotional, and academic skills. A complimentary 12-week Parent Training focuses on strengthening parent-child interactions and attachment, reducing harsh discipline, and fostering parents’ ability to promote social-emotional development. The Prevention Intervention Specialist reports to Program Manager Ashley White.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conducts screenings, enrollment, and makes recommendations for level of care.
- Collaboration with the Family Community Partnership Component.
- Ensures completion of pre & post test measures.
- Provide Incredible Years® Evidence Based Practice (EBP) presentations to children and parents.
- Conducts Incredible Years® (EBP) small groups
- Conducts Incredible Years® (EBP) parenting classes
- Provides consultation with teachers
- Reports data and all EBP required information for program documentation and evaluation.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Salary Range: $26 – $30 / hour
- 32 hours / week

LOCATION
The position is based out of our Vista office, working primarily in community locations and local elementary schools in Vista and Oceanside.
BACKGROUND PROFILE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, or a related field. Master’s Degree preferred.
- Optional: State of California Licensed or license eligible (LCSW, LMFT, IMF, ASW) by the California Board of Behavioral Science.
- Minimum of two years related experience in child, youth, and family services.
- Strong understanding of early childhood behavioral and developmental health issues.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record systems and other technology tools to support documentation and treatment planning.
- Familiarity with child development and social learning theory.
- Experience working in a school/classroom setting preferred.
- Bilingual preferred (Spanish/English); English proficiency required.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and adequate auto insurance.
- Completion of a TB test and DOJ/FBI clearance/Trustline.
