This year we were honored to receive funding for new initiatives from San Diego Foundation, Dr. Seuss Foundation, The San Diego Women’s Foundation, Rest Haven Children’s Health Fund, the County of San Diego and the Fallbrook Regional Health District. This funding has allowed us to launch three new services for our community:
- Early Childhood Success – Todos Los Ninos: A pilot project designed to strengthen the capacity of early childhood education centers to offer high quality programs that include evidence-based preventive mental health interventions to low-income, minority, children and their families.
- Screening 2 Care (S2C): Funded by the County of San Diego, S2C uses comprehensive screening, small group lessons, and linkage to services in the school and community to maximize students’ social and emotional learning. S2C helps all students improve their mental and emotional health, improve overall wellbeing, increase positive school outcomes, and improve social and family relationships.
- Counseling Services at the Community Health & Wellness Center: Fallbrook Regional Health District and Palomar Family Counseling Service, Inc. are delighted to expand our partnership and bring vital mental health support to the community of Fallbrook. We understand that mental health is crucial to overall well-being, and by offering accessible counseling services, we aim to promote a healthier and more resilient community.
- Behavioral Health Recruitment and Retention: As the need for community based mental health services continues to exceed capacity across the state, PFCS was selected to receive special funding from the California Department of Health Care Services to equip the organization to address the significant behavioral health worker shortage in San Diego County. This funding is also allowing us to undertake a new strategic planning process in 2024. We are excited for the future!
Looking Ahead:
This year we have prioritized expanding our clinical services to reach even more people in need. We are one of the only providers in San Diego County that provide services on a sliding scale. We do so to ensure even those you are uninsured, underinsured, or low income can have access to professional, personalized, mental health care. We will also launch a professional development series for our therapists.
Stay tuned….we look forward to sharing the details of our new strategic plan in July!
