Emotionally Focused Therapy is a revolutionary, empirically supported approach to treating couple distress. This workshop will introduce participants to this powerful model and help them gain a clear understanding of how to:

  • Apply attachment theory to couple distress
  • Use specific interventions to help couples reprocess negative affect and restructure negative interactions
  • Create powerful change events in therapy that foster a more secure bond between partners

Learning Objectives

About the Presenter Dr. Scott Woolley is a Distinguished Professor in the Couple and Family Therapy program at the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University. He serves as Executive Director of the Alliant Couple and Family Clinic and is the founder and Director of the San Diego Center for Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and the Training and Research Institute for EFT at Alliant (TRI-EFT Alliant).

A Certified EFT Therapist, Supervisor, and Trainer, Dr. Woolley has trained therapists across the globe—including in Canada, Chile, England, Finland, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Norway, Russia, Sweden, Taiwan, The Netherlands, and throughout the United States. He works closely with Dr. Susan Johnson, the founder of EFT, and earlier in his career collaborated with family therapy pioneers Jay Haley and James Framo. Dr. Woolley holds a Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Texas Tech University and is an AAMFT Clinical Member and Approved Supervisor.
