PFCS is hosting a three hour workshop on the legal and ethical aspects of Telehealth for our staff and trainees as part of our ongoing commitment to professional development.

This workshop is intended to deepen participants’ understanding of the advancement of telemental health. Topics to be discussed include: Measures to protect clients and providers legally and ethically; Ways to ensure providers are compliant with current Federal and CA State telemental health services practice guidelines.
The workshop is three hours in length. Attendees may earn three hours credit in law and ethics, applicable to the continuing education requirements for California licensed marriage and family therapists, licensed professional clinical counselors, and licensed clinical social workers. Learning Objectives:
- Participants will be able to identify the most common legal and regulatory considerations of providing telehealth services.
- Participants will be able to name the four mandatory steps that are required to occur prior to initial telehealth service delivery in CA.
- Participants will be able to name the three requirements that must be documented at the beginning of each telehealth session.
- Participants will be able to identify 3 potential ethical risks in the provision of telemental health with children, couples, families.
- Participants will be able to identify 3 ways to mitigate risk of ethical violations in the provision of telemental health with children, couples, and families.
